First day of adaptation / Relax
Arrive in Hanoi where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Relax at the hotel or take a walk and explore the city streets.
Visit of top sites and labyrinthine Old Quarter
Discover the story of Hanoi by exploring its top sites and labyrinthine Old Quarter. See all the highlights including the Presidential Palace, the One Pillar Pagoda and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum — the resting place of Vietnam’s founding president. You’ll also see the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, an 11th century archaeological site, and the famous Temple of Literature. End the afternoon viewing Long Bien Bridge, which was partially bombed during the Vietnam War, then take a breezy cyclo ride through the Old Quarter’s 36 streets, finishing with a coffee at a local café
Transfer to Halong Bay
Drive about four hours to the coastal port of Halong to explore the amazing natural wonder of Halong Bay a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your two-day cruise through the jade green waters will see you cruise to the far-most corners of the bay on a traditional wooden junk, visit fishing villages and kayak past jungle-clad karsts towering up out of the water.
Cruise and surprise cave / Transfer to Hanoi
Wake up with the sunrise and admire the bay at first light. Take a small tender boat to visit Surprise Cave the largest in the bay and so called because you really are surprised on entering! The cave is filled with impressive limestone formations that have been illuminated for the best views. Cruise through the bay arriving back at the port around midday. Drive back to Hanoi arriving late in the afternoon.
Transport / Visit of Hue / Imperial Citadel
Fly to the former imperial city of Hue and explore the elaborate tombs belonging to past emperors. Nestled against the banks of the Perfume River, Hue has had an interesting history. See the mausoleum of the former emperor Minh Mang situated in a tranquil setting of gardens and lakes and walk around the Imperial Citadel the seat of power for the Nguyen dynasty.
Cruise / transfer
Take a cruise down the romantically named Perfume River and let your mind wander to the empires of the past. Then drive about two and a half hours along the Hai Van Pass, the most scenic stretch of coastal road in all of Vietnam! The scenic route climbs over the ‘Pass of Ocean Clouds’ before dropping down to the photogenic fishing village of Lang Co. Arrive into the UNESCO Heritage Town of Hoi An late in the afternoon
Visit of Hoi An
With its stunning mix of architecture, that tells a story of days gone by, to the colourful boats bobbing in the harbour, Hoi An is has a charm and style all of its own. Once a 15th century fishing village, the town is now a renowned for its tailors, galleries, boutiques and of course its food! This morning, explore the beautifully restored town on a guided walking tour and see all the main sites.
Flight to Ho Chi Minh City and discover the city
Drive to Danang and fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Discover the story of Saigon, from the days of the French rule to the war years with America – this is one city with a tale to tell! See all the main sights including the Reunification Palace, the Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral. End your day with a speedboat trip down the river to see a different side of the city.
Cu Chi Tunnels
Travel by speedboat from Ho Chi Minh City to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground city for Viet Cong soldiers during the Vietnam War. Cruise the Saigon River, taking in the scenery and river life as you leave the bustling city behind. In the tunnels, discover how the Viet Cong survived underground and see various man traps, bomb craters and other remnants of war. Then visit a farm and taste an unusual local specialty - cricket!
Floating market / Cruise in waterways of the region
Depart around 08:00 AM from the hotel for the river town of Cai Be, located in the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam. Upon arrival (around 10:30 AM) we will board a motorized boat for a journey through the Cai Be floating market. Cruising through the bustling market area, discover what life on the water is like and how vendors buy and sell a variety of different goods. Watch as locals come in on their personal vessels to buy their daily essentials, ranging from produce and fish to coffee and snacks. Also during the trip, see the Cai Be bridge where many of the local vendors anchor to ship their packages off to other regions of the country.
During the day’s cruise through the various waterways of the region, a few stops will be made at local factories to see the production of some traditional snacks such as rice snacks and cakes to coconut candies. Cruise along in a traditional sampan and make a stop at a local house where seasonal fruits are grown. Disembarking from the boat, take a walk through the village visiting other homes to sample some traditional Vietnamese dishes.
After walking the village, board the boat and continue the cruise towards the Vinh Long province. Upon arrival, a car will be waiting to provide transport to Can Tho. During the ride, take note of the Can Tho cable bridge, spanning the river. The evening will be spent in Can Tho.
Visit of market / factory
Begin the day early with a boat trip to the Cai Rang floating market. The biggest wholesale market in the Mekong Delta, this market starts coming to life at 05:00 AM. While the market isn’t as busy as it once was, it’s still a great glimpse into the everyday life of locals living in the Mekong Delta region. After experiencing the market, there will be a departure for Phong Dien with a few stops made along the way to check out some local towns.
Upon arrival, a car will be waiting to provide transport to Long Xuyen where a visit will be made to an incense making factory in a local village. That afternoon we will arrive into Chau Doc, which is the Mekong’s border town along the Tonle Bassac River. The ride will continue through the Tra Su Nature Reserve in Tinh Bien district, which will offer the chance to take some amazing wildlife photos of the bird and plant species. Over 140 plant species and 70 bird species live in the sanctuary, which is a wonderful spot to visit for anyone who loves nature and wildlife. After the cruise, transport will be provided back to the hotel.
Transport & explore Phnom penh
After an early morning breakfast, transport will be provided to the boat for the cruise north to Cambodia. Board the vessel and enjoy the picturesque cruise along the Mekong River, ultimately ending up in the capital city of Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, explore the sites of the capital such as the Silver Pagoda, Central Market and the poignant Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.
Exploring the temples ruins, market, restaurants...
After breakfast in Phnom Penh, transport will be provided to the airport for the flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, our guide will be waiting to provide transport to the magnificent temples of Angkor. Enjoy an afternoon of exploring this UNESCO marvel and many of the outlying temple complexes as well. After a day of exploring the temple ruins, head to Siem Reap’s central area to explore the markets, cafes, restaurants and boutiques. Discover just what makes Siem Reap nearly as fun to explore as the Angkor Complex!
Temples of Angkor
Enjoy a day of exploring some of Angkor’s most famous temples. From the smiling faces of Bayon and the root-tangled Ta Prohm (made famous in the movie Tomb Raider) to the Terrace of the Elephant and Terrace of the Leper King, there are a massive amount of awe-inspiring temples to be explored. Top off the day with a sunset visit to Phimeanakas and Pre Rup- the perfect spot to end an Angkor-filled day!
Visit of floating houses and workshops
We will transfer to Tonle Sap Lake for taking boat trip to visit at Kampong Phluk, where we will have the opportunity to learn about life on the lake. On the way, we will pass floating houses and impressive flooded forests, portraying life on the water. Return back in town, we will go to visit Artisans d’Angkor. In there, we can take a tour through the workshops and watch students as they learn how to create silk fabrics and garments, stone and wood carving, lacquer ware, polychrome products, silver plating and silk paintings.
